The Rafael Nadal prize money has been revealed as the tennis superstar bid farewell to the sport in front of an emotional Davis Cup crowd in Malaga. 

Nadal is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all-time and landed 92 ATP singles titles during his illustrious career.

Most notably, the ‘King of Clay’ won an astonishing 22 Grand Slams. A feat only bettered by friend and former rival Novak Djokovic.

14 of those triumphs came at Roland-Garros. Incredibly, that is EIGHT more than anybody else in the Open Era. The 38-year-old’s first came in 2005 with his last in 2022.

More interestingly, Nadal twice won the tournament four times in a row and once over five consecutive years. For tennis fans all over the world, his glittering career on the court came to an end in rather tame fashion.

Nonetheless, his Davis Cup defeat went very much under the radar. An emotional ceremony was held after his loss to Netherlands in the quarter-final stage of the ‘World Cup of Tennis.’

A video montage was displayed on the big screen which displayed tributes from fellow sporting legends. They included Djokovic, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Serena Williams and David Beckham.

Furthermore, fellow Spaniards Raul, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Garcia all paid homage. Nadal was seen shedding tears as he was applaud for his astonishing career.

Rafael Nadal Prize Money Is Only Bettered By Novak Djokovic

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Rafael Nadal prize money is well into nine figures. According to reports, Nadal has banked an astonishing £102.7 million throughout his entire ATP career.

He beats friend Roger Federer by a mere £200k. The Swiss maestro won £102.5 million during his 24-year career and lifted 20 Grand Slam titles.

Novak Djokovic is the only player in tennis history who has earned more prize money than Nadal. The Serbian has collected a cool £145.4 million for his on-court exertions.

Nobody has won more Grand Slams than Djokovic (24) and he has 99 ATP career title to his name. The 37-year-old has spent a record 428 weeks being ranked as world No.1.

Nadal has done so across 209 weeks with Federer boasting 310. Of the big three (four of you include Andy Murray), Djokovic is the only legend who is still playing. An end of a fantastic era is almost complete.

Nike, who has long been affiliated with the global brand, also paid their respects to Nadal. In Paris, a 10-metre-high silhouette was projected next to the Eiffel Tower.

On X, formerly Twitter, a whole host of tweets were posted honouring Nadal. They include the official Wimbledon, Davis Cup, Olympic Games and Real Madrid pages.
