Arsenal are said to be interested in signing Rafael Leao from AC Milan in the summer transfer window after missing out on Dusan Vlahovic last month.
According to La Repubblica, the Gunners have now turned their attention to the 22-year-old attacker, who has been in decent form for Milan this season.
In all competitions, the Portuguese forward has played 27 times and has contributed with 16 direct goal contributions in the process, with Arsenal clearly impressed with what they have seen.
As per WhoScored, Leao's strengths are dribbling with the ball at his feet and shooting from long range, but he can definitely improve his passing and how much he tracks back to help in a defensive sense.
Mikel Arteta, at the moment, has the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, who can all play in the wide areas.
However, Pepe, who has seen limited time on the pitch this season, could look to leave the club at the end of the season to register more playing time, theoretically paving the way for Leao to come in.
And, as it turns out, Leao has been learning from one of the best during his time at the San Siro.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who re-joined AC Milan in January 2020, has somewhat taking Leao under his wing since moving back to the Italian giants.
Leao has previously referred to Ibrahimovic as his "big brother", according to GOAL. The same news outlet quoted Leao saying this last month: "Since he arrived, he has been talking to me, giving me advice on how to improve, how to position myself in the penalty area.
"He's a great player and I want to learn as much as I can with him by my side."
Arsenal are set for a busy summer transfer window by the looks of it, with Leao potentially a target, after a quiet January in terms of incomings.
Arteta, when speaking earlier this month, revealed that the club would be bringing some players in during the summer transfer window.
He said: "That’s part of the strategy. As well we are going to have some contracts ending and we are going to have to make some decisions as well depending on where we are and whether we have the option to do that.
"We have players on loan as well, we have to understand where they are and where they can be and how much of a contribution they can have in the summer.
"Obviously, we’ll have to sign players in the summer, that’s without a question of a doubt."
