Rafa Benitez signing tells Liverpool to swap Naby Keita for Premier League star

Glen Johnson has told Liverpool to sell Naby Keita and swap him with Brighton and Hove Albion star Yves Bissouma.

Johnson believes Keita has failed to live up to the expectations placed upon him following his transfer from RB Leipzig in 2018.

Prior to joining Liverpool, Keita was hailed as one of the best players in Germany, but since he made the switch to Anfield the Guinea star has struggled to establish himself in the Reds’ midfield.

A succession of niggling injuries have meant that he’s endured a stop/start career with the club thus far, and before he left for the African Cup of Nation’s earlier this month the 26-year-old had only started five Premier League games this season.

“He arrived at Liverpool with a massive reputation but sadly he hasn’t really lived up to it currently,” Johnson told bettingodds.com .

“I still think he’s a good player and he’s certainly a good squad player but he’s never been a player consistently in their starting XI.

“If they could agree a deal to sell Keita and then get someone like Yves Bissouma in as a replacement, then that would probably be good business.

“With big signings like Keita you want them to be banging the door down rather than accepting a role as a squad player.”

In total Keita has made 92 appearances for the Reds scoring 10 goals and notching five assists.

His contract at Anfield runs for another 18 months and he’s been linked with moves to Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Roma.
