Radio DJ Tara Kumar revealed she has landed a new ‘dream’ gig on the BBC airwaves in the UK, following her departure from RTÉ 2FM.
Kumar announced she was leaving the station after six years in September to pursue a career in London.
She has now revealed her excitement as she’s set to present Clara Amfo’s Future Sounds show on BBC Radio 1 over the Christmas period.

Sharing the news on Instagram on Tuesday, Tara wrote: “The hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep.
“I’m so excited to share that I’ll be on @bbcradio1 this Christmas covering @claraamfo’s Future Sounds… I have to keep reading that sentence cause I can’t believe it’s true!!”
“A dream and goal that I’ve been visioning most of my life and I can’t believe it’s actually happening.
“From the middle of the outback of Australia via Dublin to one of the most iconic and legendary radio shows in the world. I’m truly feeling in awe of it all.”
She added: “I couldn’t think of a better way to finish what has been a life changing year.
“Please join me on the 26th, 27th and 28th of December from 6-8pm.”
Singer Lyra was among her famous friends and followers to applaud the news, whilst fellow Irish DJ Vogue Williams said: “This is BRILLIANT.”
Model Thalia Heffernan said: “Thrilled for you.”
2FM Breakfast host Doireann Garrihy added: “So well deserved you absolute legend.”
Tara was well known for presenting her nightly music show on 2FM from Sunday to Thursday from 7pm.
Opening up about her venture across the pond as she announced her departure, she said: “
“It’s time for a new adventure in London (my nearest refuse to do a leaving party because they know I’ll be home every 5 mins)…
“Slán go fóill a chairde. TK x”
Head of RTÉ 2FM, Dan Healy said at the time: "We are very sad Tara is leaving 2FM and yet very excited for her as she makes her way in London.
“Tara’s show on 2FM was a must-listen for anyone curious about new and good music. Tara is a taste-maker and will fly wherever she is."
