A racist robber tried to steal a till from a Lanarkshire takeaway while clutching a knife.
Euan Holding threatened employees at Asian Tandoori in Cambuslang on September 29, 2021.
The 22-year-old presented the eight inch blade and stated: "I’m here to rob you, gies the till."
Holding pled guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assault with intent to rob which was racially aggravated.
The court heard Holding was subject to a tag at the time of the offence.
He entered the premises at 11.30pm with his hood up and lower face covered.
Prosecutor Lauren Donnelly said: “He demanded that the till he handed over.
“One employee retreated to the rear of the shop while Holding presented an eight inch kitchen knife from his waistband.”
It is then he then made the threat to rob the shop.
He then said: “I’m going to f***ing burst you, you f***ing black b*******s”
The employee, fearing for his safety, pretended that the police were outside which caused Holding to flee the scene.
A 999 call was made and officers were able to trace Holding who initially fled the scene.
He was interviewed where he gave “an alternative version of events” before he was cautioned and charged.
Sentence was deferred until next month pending background reports.
Holding was remanded in custody meantime.
