WONDER ELMOSSMAN can complete a spring Lingfield double by landing the Read Kevin Blake On attheraces.com Handicap (3.25).
The Stan Moore-trained four-year-old scored in good style over course and distance nine days ago, keeping on well under John Egan (below) to beat Secret Glow by two and a half lengths. A 5lb penalty may not be enough to stop him from following up.
In two previous visits to the Surrey course, the colt finished runner-up both times, so he clearly goes well on the track. Trainer John McConnell can make the long trip to Ayr from County Meath worthwhile with HEREDITARY RULE (3.50) in the Book Summer Saturday on 18 June Handicap Chase.
Recent Scottish Champion Hurdle winner McConnell has an excellent record at the track and my selection comes here after an impressive victory in a two-mile novice chase at Clonmel last month, where he beat the useful Gallyhill.
He’s bound to improve on what was only his second run over fences, and the seven-year-old is significantly back up in trip to three miles for his handicap debut. Plus, McConnell has the secured the services of top jockey Daryl Jacob. Take the hint.
