OLYMPE DE GOUGES can follow up a shock win at Doncaster a week ago by landing the Go North Grey Bomber Series Final (1.45) at Musselburgh today.
Punters ignored the David Pipe-trained daughter of Charming Thought when she took on four rivals for a juvenile hurdle on Town Moor – Olympe De Gouges went off 25-1. But she laughed at those odds, wearing down 5-6 hotpot Oot Ma Way to score by a couple of lengths, the pair seven lengths in advance of the third horse.
Connections put the improvement in form down to the drying spring ground in South Yorkshire and Tom Scudamore’s mount encounters a similar surface here. Although having to compete from 8lb out of the handicap, Olympe De Gouges is still well in under a 7lb penalty and gets the chance to confirm the form.
At Hereford, FLYING NUN looks ripe for a hat-trick in the Central Roofing Mares' Handicap Hurdle (2.45).
Emma Lavelle’s daughter of Robin Des Champs made a successful handicap hurdles debut at Fontwell Park in January, and doubled up, trying three miles for the first time, at Taunton last month.
She has a further 5lb rise to cope with here but has more to offer over staying trips and can win again.
