Racing Tips: Andrew Mount's Spreadex Analysis - Saturday, November 23rd - Sportscasting UK

Leading horse racing advisor Andrew Mount contributes to various Racing Post publications including the Weekender and Racing & Football Outlook, plus the GG.co.uk website. Unearthing value bets via handy systems and statistics, he shares his latest thoughts with SportsCasting readers below.

The great thing about Spreadex is that offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences, of course, between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets.

Make the right call and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew heads to the big meeting at Haydock for his three recommended bets/trades on Saturday, November 23rd…

HAYDOCK 2.30

PATRIOTIK caught the eye on his reappearance when finishing fifth of 17 to Joss The Boss in the 2m3.5f Silver Trophy Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow. Evan Williams’ five-year-old was beaten by a little over 15 lengths under a patient ride but that run would have been needed and the patiently-ridden runner-up (Doyen Quest), third (Take No Chances) and sixth (Tightenourbelts) all scored the next time of asking. Two more subsequent winners were much further back and the form looks rock solid. His trainer targets this meeting – he’s won with five of his last six handicap hurdlers to run at Haydock in November when starting at 16-1 or shorter – and he looks set to appreciate the step up to 3m, having gone close over 2m6f at Ffos Las on his penultimate start. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or back him each-way in the fixed odds betting.

Recommendation: Back PATRIOTIK in Haydock 2.30

HAYDOCK 3.05

ROYALE PIGAILLE’s Haydock record of 11211 (4-5) entitles him to a great deal of respect in the Betfair Chase but the value buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market could be BRAVEMANSGAME, second to the Venetia Williams-trained runner 12 months ago. Paul Nicholls’ nine-year-old is remarkably consistent in the early months of the jumps season, recording form figures over hurdles/fences in the October to February period of 21111111112222 (9-14). The first-time blinkers could help end that run of seconds: since 1997 his trainer is 30 from 160 (18.8% strike-rate) with his chasers in first-time blinkers for a profit of £51.50 to a £1 level stake at SP, including three from three in Grade 1 company with runners to go off at 16-1 or shorter – See More Business in the 1999 Cheltenham Gold Cup (16-1), Silviniaco Conti (2-1) at Ascot in February 2016 and Clan Des Obeaux (13-2) at Aintree in April 2022.

Recommendation: Back BRAVEMANSGAME in Haydock 3.05

HAYDOCK 3.40

Venetia Williams hit form with a vengeance yesterday and FONTAINE COLLONGES, winner of this 3m1.5f handicap chase two years ago, could be the one to side with in this year’s renewal. Prior to yesterday’s racing, her trainer was 127 from 640 (19.8%) with her handicap chasers in the month of November during the current century for a very healthy profit of £199.59 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 95.22, A/E = 1.33).  The nine-year-old unseated at the first fence when 5-2 favourite at Sandown on last season’s reappearance but won easily in Grade 3 handicap chase company at Wetherby next time on what was effectively her first run of the campaign. She’s now won first or second time out in each of the past five seasons and rates a buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back FONTAINE COLLONGES in Haydock 3.40
