Rachael Blackmore poses with 'smitten' Irish restaurant staff during Galway Races night out

Looks like it's not just the punters who like to head out on the town during the Galway Races - the jockeys need to let their hair down too.

That was certainly true for superstar jockey Rachael Blackmore, who headed out on the cobbled streets of Galway on Saturday night to sample the best cuisine the city has to offer.

Braving the inhospitable weather conditions, the Grand National winner trotted off to the Latin Quarter for dinner as she stopped into The Seafood Bar at Kirwan's Lane to the delight of staff.

The restaurant is famed in Galway for its excellent seafood dishes - and it turns out that word travels all the way to Ballybrit Racecourse as Rachael chose the establishment for her Saturday night meal.

Staff were clearly thrilled at her appearance as they shared a photo on Facebook with the 33-year-old Cheltenham Gold Cup winner.

In the caption they said: "Great to have the lovely Rachel Blackmore stop by for a bite this evening, our Jade is a massive fan and she was totally smitten."

Rachael isn't the only famous sports star to be spotted in Galway this week as Friday saw Rugby Union stars head into one of the city's most iconic pubs.

Irish Rugby Union's Sean O'Brien and retired English Rugby Union star Lawrence Dallaglio popped into well-known city pub The Quays for a pint or three as they posed with the owner - who happened to be a massive fan.

Owner of the iconic Shop Street pub, Seamus McGuinness, posed with the pair in a picture shared on social media on Friday night as the trio looked delighted to meet.

Instagram account Galway Pubs joked that the pub needed 'a couple of extra hands' on Friday as they shared the picture with their followers.

The caption read: "Seamus needed a few extra hands on door this week. Rugby legends Sean O' Brien and Lawrence Dallaglio dropped in to @seamusmcg @quaysbargalway."
