Roads and Buildings Minister Dadisetti Ramalingeswara Rao (Raja) assumed office at the Secretariat at Velagapudi, near here, on Wednesday.
Later, Mr. Raja said his first signature was on the files pertaining to the construction of two bridges at a cost of ₹ 170 crore. While one bridge would come up between Etimogga and Edurumondi Island in Krishna district, another would be between Jaggaiahpeta and Sattenapalli, he added.
The roads in these two stretches were in a bad shape as the previous government did not take steps to repair them, or to develop the road network in the State.
The previous government had availed of ₹3,000 crore loans and diverted the money for other purposes, he alleged. The YSRCP government was clearing all the dues, he said.
All the roads in the State were brought under the NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance (NIDA) scheme, he said. Under the scheme, ₹1,158 crore would be spent in the first phase, the Minister said.
