Michigan State football will be playing football in front of fans again on Saturday, in some capacity. While it won’t be the full scrimmage some fans were hoping for, it will be an opportunity to see how this team, which has a much greater talent pool than recent Spartan teams, competes on the field.
Before the game, MSU defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton spoke to the media about his defense, and you can see the best quotes from that session below.
MSU DC Scottie Hazelton says he hasn't been part of a situation like last year with 27 different defensive starters but thinks that will obviously just help the team moving forward.

MSU defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton on the revamped DL with transfers and freshmen: "Even as you have guys in and out, you just walk into that room and it's a different looking room. It looks like a Big Ten D-line."

Hazelton on freshman LB Jordan Hall: "He just missed his prom last week. And when you look at him on the field when you watch run around, he doesn't look like a guy that should've been at prom."

Hazelton on MSU having just two interceptions last season: "I've never been around that before, I'm not lying." Calls it "weird" and points to the Spartans' struggles (with depleted DE depth) with rushing the passer as an issue.
