Quirky new Edinburgh independent bookshop opens after recent pop-up success

Edinburgh has welcomed a new community bookshop to one of its busiest and most popular areas.

Argonaut Books have opened their doors to the community in Leith, opening as early as 10am every day of the week and offering locals a calming environment to relax and educate themselves.

The team have opened their new premises on Leith Walk after operating as a pop-up store in the same area.

Exciting fans via social media ahead of their launch on Friday, March 25, the team posted: "The 25th of March. We’re finally here. Everyone who has helped us get this far, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

"It’s been a long time coming and we’ve got some things to show you that we’re more than a little excited about. Watch this space for progress updates, upcoming events and the books that we can’t wait to share with you.

"Be seeing you x"

Enticing Edinburgh book worms with a cosy atmosphere and a great location, Argonaut also provide tea and coffee for those who'd rather get stuck in to their new purchase straight away.

The team also thanked those who supported them during their first day, posting an update half way into day one as customers couldn't get enough of the impressive new store.

They added: "And we’re away! Thank you so much to everyone who has visited us so far, we’ve been utterly blown away by the love and support we’ve received today.

"We’re open til 8pm tonight and open at 10am tomorrow to do it all again! Thank you thank you thank you, you beautiful, beautiful people."

A website where readers can explore dozens of different genres and explore some new titles is planned for the near future, with a notice on the site saying that the team are working hard to provide the finished article and can't wait to share it with everyone.

As well as offering local book lovers an excellent selection of titles, the shop also carries a little bit of history, as it is located in the old Leith Central Train Station near the foot of Leith Walk.

With the store's decor including a fresh lick of grey paint on the outskirts and a quirky orange and white logo above the door, it would be hard to walk by and not be tempted to check out what's on offer.
