The ECHO has taken a look at life in a quiet village that boasts four Michelin stars across three high-end venues.
Michelin hands out the prestigious accolade to establishments in its annual guide based on food quality, cooking techniques, value and consistency.
In the 2023 edition, So-Lo in Aughton was handed a star for the first time, while the nearby Moor Hall retained its two stars. The Barn at Moor Hall also held on to its one star.

Aughton is a quiet village nestled between Maghull and Ormskirk, on the border of Merseyside and West Lancashire.
A relatively new addition, So-Lo opened in 2021 and is led by Yorkshireman Tim Allen. Tim told the ECHO the news "hasn't really sunk in" and he has taken more than 160 reservations since the announcement yesterday (March 27). He added: "The impact has been huge. It's great for the area.
"I think in this area now there's a real focus on high quality food and produce. We work directly with producers and growers and we're so lucky to get produce this good. If you start with good, you end with good.
"We've got a lot of regular, loyal guests. We've been made to feel really welcome. They're really genuine people and it's a lovely place to be."
Moor Hall and The Barn and Moor Hall retained their stars. The site was acquired by Andy and Tracey Bell in 2015 and has undergone a multimillion-pound revamp with the support of their friend and business partner Mark Birchall.
Mark, who is also chef patron at Moor Hall, said: "We work tirelessly to deliver a world-class dining experience and we are so proud of the dedication and passion of all of our team.
"Congratulations also to our neighbouring restaurants across Lancashire who have won and retained Michelin stars in this year's guide. Together we are putting this county well and truly on the map as a top UK dining destination."
The ECHO has also taken a look at the hospitality boom underway in Aughton.
Away from high-end tasting menus and fine wines there are a number of other popular independent businesses that have popped up serving the residents of Aughton and beyond with food and drinks.
Daily Dose is a trendy hotspot on Town Green Lane, just a stone's throw from Town Green Train Station, specialising in coffee, cakes, breakfast, brunch and lunch.
Next door is Arthur's of Aughton, a specialist in fine wines and craft beer. It also serves signature cocktails, coffee and food.
Elsewhere in Merseyside, Wirral venue Fraiche retained its one Michelin star.
