Quick review of Titans QB Will Levis’ phenomenal debut

To say rookie quarterback Will Levis has injected life into the Tennessee Titans would be a drastic understatement. The first-year signal caller was downright awesome in his first-ever NFL game in Week 8.

Levis completed 65.5 percent of his passes (19-of-29) for 238 yards and four touchdowns, three of which went to DeAndre Hopkins, and two of those totaled 47 and 61 yards.

An offer for Titans fans

The 2023 second-round pick looked like a poised veteran. Levis operated a pro-style offense with ease, consistently went through his progressions and protected the football throughout the entire game, with the exception of one pass that nearly got picked.

Levis was a true sheriff at the line of scrimmage, also, as he constantly made checks, subsequently getting the team in the right play when needed based on the defensive look.

Arguably the most impressive part of Levis’ day was how aggressive he was throughout the contest. The Kentucky product routinely pushed the ball downfield and connected on those pass attempts more often than not.

Prior to Sunday, the Titans hadn’t scored more than 27 points in a game since Week 18 of 2021, but Tennessee dropped 28 with Levis under center on Sunday.

Levis tallied double the amount of touchdown passes (four) in one game than fellow quarterback Ryan Tannehill (two) had in six. He’s also just the third quarterback in NFL history to throw four touchdown passes in his debut, joining Marcus Mariota and Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton.

It may have only been one game, but this feels like the spark Tennessee desperately needed to potentially get its season back on track.

The next step in his development will be to start stacking these performances together, and he will have the chance to do it this Thursday when the Titans travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.
