It seems like everyone wants a seat at the hottest restaurant in town right now. Fans of the Nottingham restaurant Kushi-ya might have to wait longer in future to get a table after the restaurant was catapulted into the national spotlight this week.
At Friday lunchtime a lengthy queue formed in the alleyway, off Long Row, leading to the entrance at the end of Cannon Court ready for the doors to open at noon.
Diners have described the food as "stunning" ever since the restaurant opened in 2018 but on Saturday Kushi-ya received a glowing review from The Guardian's restaurant critic Jay Rayner, in which he described it his "restaurant of the year". Days later there was further celebration after it was named one of the Michelin inspectors' favourite new restaurants, earning it recognition in the revered worldwide food bible.

Chefs Simon Carlin and Tom Clay work out of a compact open kitchen serving dishes such as prawn katsu sando and chicken tsukune. Simon said: "We’re thrilled to have been recognised and listed in the Michelin Guide. After a great review in the Guardian this week this is just the icing on the cake for the team. We love what we do and will continue to knock out great tasting food at a reasonable price."
