Queensland Police are currently investigating the shocking death of a young child in the state’s north. The child was found unresponsive in a car in the town of Innisfail.
At approximately 1pm on Monday afternoon, Queensland Police responded to a callout about a child found in a vehicle at the town’s Rankin Street.
With temperatures in the area reaching a high of 30.4 degrees Celsius today around lunchtime, paramedics rushed to the location to provide medical aid.
Unfortunately, a police report confirmed that by the time emergency services arrived it was too late.
“Upon arrival, emergency services provided medical assistance, however the child was declared deceased,” read a statement from Queensland Police.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the death, with no reports including any information on the child’s parents.
The child’s age and identity have not been made public.
Local mayor Teresa Millwood made a statement where she said the community is devastated by the “very tragic event”.
“It is an absolute shock to the community,” she said, per ABC.
“The Cassowary Coast regional council would like to extend our condolences to the family involved and if there’s anything we can do, we are happy to help them.”
