Her Majesty postponed her audience with the Privy Council on advice from her doctors. Earlier this week, she swore in new Prime Minister Liz Truss in Scotland in a break of tradition amid concerns regarding her health.
In a statement released in Twitter, the Prime Minister said: "The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.
"My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."
The Queen's immediate family members have been informed of the update, and Prince Charles is now with her. The Duke of Cambridge is reportedly en route to Balmoral.
Prince William and Prince Charles are also journeying to Balmoral following the news.
