Queen 'surprised' as Meghan gave 'curt three-word reply' after offering advice

An author has claimed Meghan Markle gave a curt three-word response to the Queen when she offered advice about joining the Royal Family.

Royal author Robert Jobson has told in his new book ' Our King' how the late monarch sat down with the Duchess of Sussex for a one-to-one chat where she "warmly welcomed" Megan to the family, after expressing her 'pleasure' that Harry "had at last found love."

According to the Mirror, Jobson says the Queen was left 'surprised' after Megan replied "I've got Harry" when she advised her to turn to Sophie, Countess of Wessex for support.

Details about Kate Middleton's feelings about her public walkabout at Windsor with Harry and Meghan following the Queen's death are also set to be shared, with the author claiming that the Princess of Wales found it “one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do”.

The walkabout to greet well-wishers gathered at Windsor following the death of the monarch, aged 96, was meant to come across as a symbol of unity.

Mr Jobson claimed sources told him that wasn’t the case and the togetherness was an “illusion." He wrote: "Catherine later admitted to a senior royal that, such was the ill feeling between the two couples, the joint walkabout was one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do.”

Alongside that, the Daily Mail reported he wrote that Charles and William decided they couldn’t be alone with Harry following the Sussexes’ bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.

Relations between the Royals remain at an all-time low following the release of Prince Harry's memoirs Spare where he made claims about the family including allegations that Prince William physically attacked him on one occasion.

Megan and Harry also criticised King Charles as a father and took a swipe at other male members of the family in their Netflix documentary which was released a month earlier.

Reports have suggested that the Sussexes are trying to negotiate their appearance at the upcoming Coronation for King Charles with the couple not yet confirming if they will attend after receiving an invite.
