Queen spotted reapplying lipstick while at ITV Platinum Jubilee Celebration

All eyes are on the Queen as her historic Platinum Jubilee edges closer and closer. Her Majesty is Britain's longest-reigning monarch and has been on the throne for 70 years, ever since her father King George VI died in February 1952.

Celebrations have begun across the UK and will build up to a national bank holiday on Friday, June 3 to mark the historic occasion. Millions of people across the country are set to gather with family, friends and neighbours for street parties, tea parties, parades and everything in between.

One of the first events to mark the historic occasion is the Royal Windsor Horse Show held at Windsor Castle. The Royal Show, aptly named "A Gallop Through History," began on Thursday, May 12 and ran until yesterday, Sunday, May 15. Her Majesty, who looked well for 96, was met with a standing ovation on her arrival yesterday. Joined by the Countess of Wessex, the Queen took her seat in the 5,000-strong audience and seemed to really enjoy the performances and entertainment and was photographed with a joyous smile across her throughout - before being spotted reapplying her lipstick during the show.

Whilst beauty magazines and etiquette experts usually suggest people who wear makeup should only reapply it in a bathroom, away from other guests or cameras, the Queen seemed unperturbed by the cameras on her and was caught reapplying her lipstick at her seat during the show. She used her black handbag to half-hide her make-up touching up, but can clearly be seen popping a little bit of lipstick on her lips.

Referring to the unexpected moment, ITV royal editor Chris Ship told Good Morning Britain on Monday: "One of the photographers actually caught the Queen reapplying some lipstick halfway through the event, which... you don't see very often! The Queen is having a little reapplication of the lippy!"

Alongside her statement red lipstick, the Queen kept the rest of her makeup neutral with simple eye makeup. She wore gorgeous pearl earrings and a silver dress with complementing silvery-grey shawl.

As well as Her Majesty, a long list of celebrities attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show including Hollywood actor Tom Cruise and beloved British actress Dame Helen Mirren who gave a poignant speech to the Queen. Addressing the Queen, she said: "For all these years you have carried our nation. You have been at its heart, its drumbeat. You have given us purpose and when situations have been challenging your hope, guidance and leadership have been unswerving.

"I address you on behalf of all your loyal subjects. We commend and admire the way that you carry out the affairs of state with such dexterity and poise. I therefore speak on behalf of a grateful nation and commonwealth when I give you our sincere and most loving thanks."
