Queen says she's 'touched and humbled' by Jubilee in emotional thank you message

The Queen has sent a message of thanks to people around the world following her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Her historical 70 year reign was celebrated with four-days of events and engagements, including a Red Arrows flypast, a Service of Thanksgiving and a star-studded concert at Buckingham Palace.

The Monarch rounded off the celebrations on Sunday evening by making an appearance on the Palace balcony with her three heirs, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George.

They were joined by Camilla, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Shortly after, she released a message saying: "When it comes to how to mark seventy years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first. But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee.

"While I may not have attended every event in person, my heart has been with you all; and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family.

"I have been inspired by the kindness, joy and kinship that has been so evident in recent days, and I hope this renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come.

"I thank you most sincerely for your good wishes and for the part you have all played in these happy celebrations."

Tens of thousands of people gathered on The Mall sang the National Anthem while The Firm smiled and waved to the crowds.

Earlier in the day members of the family sat in the royal box to watch the spectacular People's Pageant.

Little Louis stole the show with a series of hilarious facial expressions, and he was spotted trying to cover his mum Kate's mouth with his hand and blowing raspberries.

The parade featured seven buses packed with national treasures, representing each decade of the Queen's reign.

It wasn't known whether the Queen would make an appearance today after she was forced to cancel engagements on Friday and Saturday on medical grounds.

However the crowd erupted when the Royal Standard was raised at the Palace, showing she had arrived.

Sunday's event rounds off a spectacular four-day celebration, with Brits treated to an extra Bank Holiday to celebrate.

Things began on Thursday with Trooping the Colour, at which the Queen made two balcony appearances. The first was with her cousin while she inspected the troops.

However when she returned later in the day she was joined by the rest of the working royals, including Charles, Camilla, the Cambridges and the Wessexes and Princess Anne.

Prince Andrew, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were all notably absent from the balcony as they are no longer working royals.

However Meghan and Harry did step into the spotlight on Friday when they attended a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral.

It's their first royal engagement since they quit in 2020 and the first time they've been publicly reunited with the royals since their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
