The eyes of the world will be fixed on Westminster Abbey on Monday for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II but her burial will be a private affair at her beloved home in Windsor.
After the pomp and ceremony of a state funeral, the Queen’s interment will be a quiet, personal moment for the family to say their goodbyes.
Following the state funeral, the cortege will continue from Westminster Abbey on its final journey to the Queen’s resting place, on streets lined with thousands of people.
King Charles III will walk behind the Queen’s coffin to Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner before going on to Windsor in Berkshire.
When the state hearse arrives at Windsor, it will travel along the Long Walk to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and, once inside, the committal service will be conducted by the Dean of Windsor, David Connor, reported iNews.
About 800 people will attend the afternoon committal service but, in the evening, the monarch will be laid to rest in a “deeply personal family occasion”, which will remain private.

It has been confirmed that the Queen’s committal service will take place at the St George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor Castle at 4pm on Monday September 19.
Later that day, the Queen will be buried alongside the Duke of Edinburgh in the King George VI’s chapel at Windsor in a private service that will take place at 7.30pm.
Where will the Queen’s funeral take place?
The Queen’s funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey, the first time a sovereign has had his or her funeral there since King George II in 1760. Funerals for British kings and queens have usually been held at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
The funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales took place at Westminster Abbey, as did the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, now the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Westminster Abbey is considered more accessible as it allows for more people to take part.

6.30am: Lying in state at Westminster Hall ends.
8am: The doors to Westminster Abbey, where the funeral will be held, are opened.
10.35am: Her Majesty the Queen’s coffin will travel in the state gun carriage to Westminster Abbey. A procession will lead through New Palace Yard, Parliament Square and Broad Sanctury before reaching Westminster Abbey.
It will be led by King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and Prince William and Prince Harry.
10.52am: The Queen’s coffin arrives at Westminster Abbey.
11am: The Queen’s funeral service starts.
11.55am: The funeral ends with the sounds of the Last Post.
12pm: UK observes a two-minute silence at the end of the Queen’s funeral.
12.15pm: The Queen’s coffin will travels from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch near Hyde Park Corner, before continuing on to Windsor. King Charles and other members of the royal family will walk behind the coffin to Wellington Arch, via Parliament Square, Parliament Street, Whitehall, Horse Guards, The Mall, Queen’s Gardens, finally Constitution Hill and Apsley Way.
1pm: The Queen’s coffin is moved from the state gun carriage to the state hearse and will then be taken to Windsor.
3.15pm: Final procession from St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, via the Long Walk, begins at Shaw Farm Gate on Albert Road.
4pm: The Queen’s coffin carried into St George’s Chapel, where a televised committal service held by the Dean of Windsor will take place.
7.30pm: Queen Elizabeth II is interred alongside Prince Philip at King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor Castle privately.
