Queen's doctors 'concerned' for her health as Palace issues rare statement

Queen Elizabeth has been put under medical supervision after doctors have raised concerns over her health.

Buckingham Palace issued a rare statement this afternoon on the Queen's health. Her immediate family have been informed.

The statement said: "Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Prince Charles, Camilla and Prince William are currently travelling to Balmoral, Clarence House and Kensington Palace have confirmed.

The Queen, who is 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday after doctors ordered her to rest, Mirror UK reports. It comes just days after the Queen met with Liz Truss to officially appoint her as Britain's new Prime Minister.

Ms Truss sent a message on Twitter and said: "The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."

The much-loved royal marked a historic 70 years on the throne with Platinum Jubilee celebrations back in June. However, she was forced to miss out on a thanksgiving service at St Paul's Cathedral after experiencing discomfort during the birthday parade and flypast one day earlier.
