Queen’s death sees Champions League anthem turned off as Rangers host Napoli

British clubs will reportedly not play the Champions League anthem before home games this week due to the mourning period following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Rangers have already seen their clash with Napoli pushed back to Wednesday with UEFA citing "severe limitations on police resources and organisational issues" relating to the sad passing of the monarch. Along with English Premier League sides Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, who are all hosting Champions League group stage games, it has been stated the Champions League anthem will not be played.

Liverpool will face Ajax on Tuesday night, while new Chelsea boss Graham Potter will take his first game at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday against RB Salzburg with Manchester City are in action at the same time against Borussia Dortmund at the Etihard Stadium. The Telegraph have now claimed that the song 'Champions League' will not be blasted out of PA systems ahead of kick-off.

Rangers clash with Aberdeen and the SPFL fixture card were called off last weekend during the morning period. The English Premier League and Football League also postponed their fixture card.
