Queen's beloved dog interrupts Jubilee gift viewing - and the monarch loved it

The Queen has been pictured playing with one of her cherished dogs as she looks through presents and cards from well-wishers in new photos marking her Platinum Jubilee year.

The monarch celebrates 70 years on the throne this year, and people have already been sending in their greetings to commemorate the occasion, as well as recipes for a 'Platinum Pudding' competition.

But in one cute picture, a curious four-legged member of the Royal household appears to want a sneak preview of her cards, The Mirror reports.

Candy, The Queen's dorgi - a cross between a corgi and a dachshund - made a lap of Windsor Castle's Oak Room, where the pictures were taken a few weeks ago.

The Queen said: “And where did you come from? I know what you want.”

She then called Candy over and petted her.

Queen Elizabeth II is joined by one of her dogs, a Dorgi called Candy, as she views a display of memorabilia from her Golden and Platinum Jubilees (PA)

The Queen has owned more than 30 corgis during her reign, which is the longest of any British monarch.

She currently has three dogs – as well as Candy there is a young corgi called Muick, and another corgi puppy which replaced Fergus the dorgi puppy, who died unexpectedly in May last year.

A display of memorabilia from the Golden and Platinum Jubilees was laid out in the Oak Room.

The Queen praised the design of one Platinum Jubilee card featuring a picture of her as a young woman surrounded by flowers with the words “70 Glorious Years”.

During the viewing, the Queen paid tribute to her late father by wearing her aquamarine and diamond clip brooches, worn separately in a diagonal setting on her turquoise dress

They were an 18th birthday present from her beloved “Papa”, George VI, in April 1944.

The two art deco-style pieces were made by Boucheron from baguette, oval and round diamonds and aquamarines.
