Ruari Paton is ready to get stuck into Morton in the Scottish Cup this weekend.
The Irishman is expecting a physical game against the Championship side but he is relishing the opportunity to get down and dirty at Cappielow.
The 22-year-old said: “They’re doing well. I heard a stat that they’ve taken the most points in a calendar year but that’s some momentum to bring into the match. We need to stand up and be counted for. They’re a strong physical team and if you let them bully you then they will. They’re nasty but I love a bit of nastiness so I’ll be right up for this.
“I’m looking forward to it but it’ll be a hard game though. It’s a tough place to go, they’re a very good team with a good manager and good staff. We need to go there and really work for a result.
“I’m sure it’ll be feisty I’m not sure a lot of their fans like me.”
Boss Wullie Gibson is preparing for his first Scottish Cup match as Queens boss and appreciates how much of an impact a good cup run can have.
He said: “Every club loves a cup run and Morton are doing well in the Championship.
“Dougie Imrie has just picked up his third manager of the month award this season because they’ve had a good start to the season so it will be a tough, tough game.
“But we’ll go there with the belief that if we put in a performance like Saturday we can get a result. Simple as that. But we want to be in the next round.”
He added: “It’s got a bearing on everyone’s financial cicumstances, not just Queen of the South. The Scottish Cup is good, it’s beneficial. I know they talk about the other cups not being as beneficial but the Scottish Cup is the biggie isn’t it?
“We’ll go to Morton with a positive mindset and try and win the game.”
