Queen of the South defender Stephen Hendrie has called tonight’s match with FC Edinburgh “massive”.
The man of the match from Saturday’s 1-0 win over Falkirk wants to keep the South’s three-game unbeaten run going with two wins and a draw.
He said: “Friday is a massive game.
“We’ve had good results against them but you can’t take them lightly.
“They’ve been up the table all season.
“Come Friday we need to be on it to get the three points.”
A clean sheet combined with a Coll Donaldson own goal were enough to give the Doonhamers three points to pull them within seven points of the promotion
play-offs.
Hendrie added: “I was delighted with the three points and the work we put into the game plan because I thought we executed it brilliantly.
“Falkirk are a great side and move the ball well so I thought we dealt with the game plan brilliantly and I was buzzing to get three points.
“The gaffer has said since he came in that we need to up the tempo. In some games we’ve managed it and in others we haven’t.
“On Saturday we got in their faces and made them make some errors and that was the difference.
“We didn’t want to sit off them and let them play because we know that’s what they’re good at that.
“We thought if we got up in their faces then they’d struggle and in the first half they did.”
Manager Marvin Bartley wants to use last Saturday’s win as a blueprint for success in the future.
He said: “We’ll come up with a game plan to give us the best opportunity to go out and win the game.
“We aim to win every single game, it’s about getting as many points as we can. I keep saying between now and the end of the season let’s see where that takes us.
“We’ve had a good run against them but they’ll know that and will want to put an end to it and they’ll maybe try a bit harder but it’s about what we do and how we prepare between now and the
game.”
