Marvin Bartley has been named the Scottish League One Glen’s Manager of the Month for March.
The Queen of the South gaffer took 10 points from a possible 12 during the month, with wins over Airdrie, Falkirk and FC Edinburgh, and a draw with Clyde.
He said: “It’s pleasing our recent form has been recognised by others outwith the club.
“Although I’ve been given the award it really is a team effort, the rest of my coaching staff and the players have been excellent so a big thank you to everyone.
“I’m proud of them and what we have achieved in such a short space of time. I’ve only been in the job for a few months so to be named Glen’s Manager of the Month already is great. To be given any award is a sign of success so we are heading in the right direction.
“Now isn’t a time to rest on our laurels though and are focus is firmly fixed on our next game.
“The points achieved in the past month can’t be taken away from us but if we take our eye off the ball, points in future games can be.”
The Doonhamers won their third league match in a row on Saturday, the first time they have managed that feat since February 2021.
The 2-1 victory, thanks to a late winner from substitute Lee Connelly, keeps the South’s play-off dreams alive and delivered some instant karma to Peterhead after Jason Brown’s equaliser.
Bartley said: “That goal was massively important because it was the winning goal so it was really important.
“I was really happy to see it hit the back of the net especially after the celebrations by their bench and players in front of me when it went to 1-1. Sometimes karma can hit you very quickly and that might be a lesson for everyone to learn.”
The game had a lot of needle in it and the manager was unsure where it started or why.
He added: “I don’t have any problem with it but we had to stand up to it.
“That’s what teams will do against us.
“If they don’t think they can out-pass you then they’ll be more direct and be physical and they did it within the laws of the game and I have no problem with
that.
“Football is played in many different ways.
“I said to them to concentrate on their football and you’ll get your rewards.”
