Palmerston’s artificial grass pitch is being replaced over the summer.
The club this week began the process of tearing it up to improve the surface for next season.
The news is good for a number of players who haven’t rated the 3G surface at all.
And manager Marvin Bartley hopes the new, upgraded pitch will pay dividends in the next campaign.
Bartley said: “I’m looking forward to it, but I don’t want opposition players to come here and enjoy playing here.
“We need to make it a fortress by playing football, and not wanting people to play us.
“I would never make an excuse, and I’ve said that before, but the pitch isn’t great at all.
“ I think the way the players deal with it is fantastic and the way they moved the ball in the last game was brilliant.
“I can’t wait for the new pitch, I think it will improve us.
“In the Airdrie game you saw how we went about our business and against Edinburgh as well on a fantastic pitch, we went about our business in the correct manner and for me the aim is to get the players doing that week in and week out next season.
“All pre-season games will be away from home and I think the club has asked for our first League Cup game to be away from home as well just in case.
“It should be down a long time before then but that’s just to cover ourselves.”
Sportex will carry out the changes as they lay the Greenfields MX elite carpet.
Opposing players have often criticised the old surface and while Queens players were more used to it was not ideal.
Captain Josh Todd said: “When you control the ball you have to kind of stab it so when you go to somewhere with grass you do that for the first five minutes of the game not realising you don’t have to. You can just control it normally.
“But that stabbing motion means you have to take another touch and it slows the game down. It’s an advantage for us because we’re used to playing on it and opposition teams don’t like playing here but equally we don’t like it either.”
Meanwhile, Queens have signed three players up for next season this week.
Another keeper, Murray Johnson, from Hibs, has signed on loan for a season.
