Queen health: Meghan Duchess of Sussex will not travel to Balmoral with Prince Harry

The Duchess of Sussex will not be joining her husband, Prince Harry, in travelling to Balmoral, it is understood.

Buckingham Palace said after being checked over by doctors this morning, Queen Elizabeth II is being kept comfortable at Balmoral. The 96-year-old monarch pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, a day after appointing Liz Truss as PM at her home in the Scottish Highlands.

A Palace spokesperson said: "Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

The Queen's close family including the Prince of Wales have been informed, with the latest announcement escalating fears for the monarch's health. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have travelled to Balmoral, Clarence House said.

A private jet left RAF Northolt and arrived at Aberdeen Airport just before 4pm on Thursday, September 8. The plane was carrying the Duke of Cambridge, the Duke of York and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

The Duke of Sussex is on his way to Balmoral separately from other royals, but have been in co-ordination with other family members' plans. A source has since confirmed Meghan will remain in London, but will not attend the WellChild awards.

The Duchess of Cambridge was seen earlier this afternoon picking up her children from their new school, Lambrook School. It's believed she will stay in Windsor tonight.

It is understood both Duchesses could attend Balmoral at a later date.

The nation's longest-reigning monarch has ongoing mobility issues and looked bright but frail and used a walking stick during Tuesday's historic audience with Ms Truss, which followed a visit from outgoing prime minister Boris Johnson as he tendered his resignation.
