Queen had firm word with 'upset' Meghan Markle after row about eggs

The Queen was once forced to take the Duchess of Sussex "to one side" after she got upset over tasting egg in a meal which was supposed to be egg-free, an author has claimed.

It's reported that Meghan was sampling dishes to be served at her wedding reception when she "got very upset" at being told a particular meal had no egg in it.

Royal author Katie Nicholl claims Meghan protested that she could taste the ingredient, prompting a quiet talking-to from Her Majesty.

Meghan reportedly wanted an egg-free alternative for VIPs following strict diets to be able to enjoy.

She told Yahoo's Royal Box : "Meghan got very upset when she felt that she could taste egg in a dish when she was told there was no egg in there, and she said, 'No, I can taste it, I can taste there's egg in this dish.'"

Katie went on to say that the Queen walked in while the incident was taking place, and "quietly took Meghan to the side."

"I think there was a bit of an upset when suddenly the Queen walked in, because of course, this was Windsor Castle, this is her home," she continued.

"And she just quietly took Meghan to the side and said, 'Meghan, in this family we don't speak to people like that.'"

The incident allegedly took place in the lead up to the royal wedding, in which Prince Harry wed the former actor in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, on May 18, 2018.

Just under two years later, the couple officially stepped down from their duties as senior members of the royal family, before moving to Canada, and then onto California, United States.

Since then, Harry and Meghan have been busy welcoming their second child, daughter Lilibet, and carving out careers for themselves, including signing major deals with Netflix and Spotify.

On Thursday, March 17, a spokesperson for the couple’s foundation Archewell confirmed Meghan's long-awaited podcast on Spotify would be released in the summer.
