Buckingham Palace has said today it is the wish of the new King that the period of mourning will begin from now until seven days after the Queen's funeral. The date of the the funeral will be confirmed in due course.

However, there is no legal requirement for employers to give staff the day off. This means it will be up to the discretion of the pub owners whether their establishment will stay open.
The Elephant pub & Bakehouse in Woolton released a statement yesterday saying the pub was closed for the evening in tribute to Her Majesty. It said: "Out of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II we will be closing the pub tonight at 7.30pm.
"Existing reservations will be contacted directly by our team. We will be back open from 11.45am tomorrow (Friday). Rest in peace Ma'am."
