Queen Camilla to miss Remembrance events

Queen Camilla will miss the events in London

Queen Camilla will miss Remembrance events this weekend.

The 77-year-old royal was recently diagnosed with a chest infection and she's "following doctors’ guidance" by missing the Remembrance events in London over the weekend.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "Following doctors' guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend's Remembrance events."

Despite this, Camilla still intends to "mark the occasion privately at home".

The statement continued: "While this is a source of great disappointment to the Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week."

Members of the royal family are set to attend the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday (09.11.24), before they gather at the Cenotaph in central London on Sunday for the annual service.

King Charles - who is still receiving treatment for cancer - will lay a wreath at the memorial in Whitehall.

Catherine, Princess of Wales is also set to attend Remembrance events in London.

The 42-year-old royal has slowly been returning to public duties after undergoing abdominal surgery and subsequent preventative chemotherapy treatment.

Buckingham Palace recently confirmed that she will be present for the Festival of Remembrance and the service at the Cenotaph.

Meanwhile, Prince William has admitted that 2024 has been a "brutal" year for his family.

Asked how his year has been during a recent trip to South Africa, William replied: "Honestly? It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.

"Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.

"But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal."
