An Italian restaurant on the Quayside has announced a mouth-watering new menu featuring new seafood and pizza dishes, indulgent desserts, and refreshing cocktails.
Gusto Italian, which has 13 restaurants across the UK including its popular Newcastle venue, has introduced a range of new dishes and drinks for spring. They have also made seasonal changes to freshen up menu favourites, which they have dubbed “perfect for those warmer sunny days”.
A stand-out new addition to the menu is the Pan-Seared King Scallops, topped with a crispy pork crumb. A dish that Gusto describes as “summer on a plate”, the scallops are served with crispy pancetta on a bed of pea puree, mint and chilli oil.

Other new dishes include the Supergrain Salad made with pomegranate, walnuts and sweet potato, and the Smoked Salmon Fettuccine, served up in the traditional Neapolitan style. Meanwhile, the Truffle Bianco is a new find on the pizza menu - Gusto has called the truffle paste, Portobello mushroom and Fior Di Latte mozzarella addition “a pizza lover’s dream”.
The dessert menu also features a new mouth-watering option, with the launch of a twist on Gusto’s signature sweet dish. The restaurant’s famous Dough Petals are now available stuffed with Lotus Biscoff and chocolate, served up with Italian vanilla gelato and fresh berries.
There’s no shortage of delicious dessert options on the Gusto menu, with all the classic favourites still available. The extensive dessert list includes tiramisu, sticky toffee pudding, Biscoff cheesecake, chocolate brownie, vanilla panna cotta, and gelato.
The food isn’t the only thing that’s had a spring makeover at Gusto, with the drinks menu also boasting a few new additions ideal for the warmer weather. New cocktails include the Frozen Mango Margarita, Frozen Pina Colada, and the Bergamot Slush.
The restaurant also has a signature gin and tonics menu, mocktails, and a traditional Italian aperitivo menu featuring pre-meal spritzers. If you fancy a sweet tipple for dessert there’s the option of a Passion Fruit Cheesecake Martini or a Tiramisu Martini.
Gusto on the Quayside is open from 12pm-9:45pm seven days a week, and tables can be booked online via the Gusto website. Outdoor dining on the terrace is an option - but if the weather isn't behaving the inside has plenty of atmosphere too, where diners can take a seat under a 200-year-old olive tree decorated in fairy lights with floor-to-ceiling windows offering Quayside views.
