Quality Street fans are all saying the same thing about change to popular chocolate

Chocolate fans have been left baffled after finding out that one of their favourite Quality Street chocolates looks a little bit different this year.

Quality Street are a household favourite at Christmas time, but people have been noticing one particular favourite looks very different this year - the Green Triangle.

Despite its name, baffled social media users have discovered the chocolate wrapped in un unfamiliar gold foil wrapping.

Some shoppers who have picked up the affected products have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts on the new colour, with one even calling it "sacrilege."

One fan who spotted the change after opening their tub tweeted: "Excuse me @NestleUKI @QualityStreetUK what is this sacrilege? Why are the triangles not green?

Another confused shopper wrote: "How did this pass Quality control? it’s called a GREEN triangle. The clue is in the name @QualityStreetUK."

While the wrapping on the popular chocolate may look a little different, Quality Street has assured chocolate fans that it is still the exact same Green Triangle chocolate that they know and love underneath.

Nestle has been forced to change the colour of its wrapping on two chocolates following a production issue. Due to a shortage of foil, the brand made the decision to change the wrapping on both the Green Triangle and Orange Crunch so as not to axe them from the tubs.

Some of the tubs will feature the Green Triangle wrapped in an unfamiliar gold foil, while the Orange Octagon Crunch will be wrapped in a dark bronze foil.

Quality Street issued a statement to assure fans that it was a one-off incident caused by a shortage and said: "A limited run of Quality Street® products will include the famous Green Triangle wrapped in a gold-coloured foil, whilst the Orange Crunch could be wrapped in a dark bronze foil. This was a one-off, limited issue caused by a shortage of stock held at our factory."

Quality Street's Senior Brand Manager, Jemma Handley, said: "I promise this isn't a publicity stunt. We've not added full size chocolate bars to the tin or removed the coconut flavour from a handful of tubs.

"We simply didn't have enough of the right coloured foil to cover the production run of the two sweets in question and, rather than leave them out of the selection altogether, we decided to use different colours for a very limited period."

It's not the first change that Nestle have made to its Quality Street tubs, as the multinational food company announced earlier this year that it would be axing its iconic shiny wrappers for the first time in 86 years to a more eco-friendly cellulose wrapping.

Coincidentally, the only two chocolates not affected by the major change was the Green Triangle and Orange Crunch, as their wrapping already comes without an additional layer of cellulose.
