Quad bike rider dies after crashing into headstone in Glasgow cemetery

A quad bike rider died after crashing into a headstone in a Glasgow Cemetery last Sunday morning.

Police raced to Lambhill Cemetery on Tresta Road at around 6am on June 12 after reports of a collision.

The 36-year-old driver sustained serious injuries.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, but tragically died a short time later.

Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At 6am on Sunday, 12 June, 2022, Police Scotland received a report of a collision between a quad bike and a structure within the cemetery on Tresta Road, Glasgow.

"The 36-year-old male rider of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
