Qld man tried to kill partner, police say

A Mount Isa man is behind bars after allegedly trying to kill his partner and stabbing another man.

The Soldiers Hill man, 23, was arrested after the alleged double stabbing about 10.30pm on Friday.

Queensland police responding to reports of a serious assault found a man in his 40s and woman in her 20s, each with multiple stab wounds.

Neither were in life-threatening conditions and were taken to the local hospital.

The alleged assailant was arrested at the scene.

He has been charged with the domestic violence-related attempted murder of the woman as well as contravening a domestic violence order.

A third charge of committing acts intending to main relates to the older man's stabbing.

The younger man is expected to appear at Mount Isa Magistrates Court on February 13.
