As the Cleveland Browns prepare for the Jacksonville Jaguars, they may have a different quarterback than Trevor Lawrence to gameplan for. Leaving the Monday Night Football loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, Lawrence looked to be in a great deal of pain, heavily favoring his ankle.
Lawrence had to be helped off the field and to the Jacksonville locker room with heavy support. Lawrence has an MRI scheduled as the Jaguars are initially calling it a sprain.
With the Jaguars coming to Cleveland on a short week after playing on Monday night, there is a reason to have serious doubt about Lawrence’s availability for this Week 14 matchup. If he cannot go against the Browns this week, veteran backup C.J. Beathard will fill in.
Stepping in for the injured Lawrence in the loss to the Bengals, Beathard finished the game 9-of-10 passing for 63 yards. As the Browns start a backup, presumably Joe Flacco, we may get a backup on backup matchup at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday.
