QB situation lining up well for Steelers and the NFL draft

It has been a busy, busy offseason for the NFL and its starting quarterbacks. Nearly a dozen teams are in some state of transition at the quarterback position including the Pittsburgh Steelers. Out is Ben Roethlisberger and in is Mitch Trubisky.

For now, anyway. Throughout this entire process, even with the addition of Trubisky, it’s never felt like the Steelers would shy away from a quarterback in the first round if the right one was there. Who is the right one? My best guess is either Pitt’s Kenny Pickett or Liberty’s Malik Willis.

But as the quarterback bingo card fills up, it is starting to feel like most of the quarterback-needy teams are opting for veterans. This means there is a real possibility one of these guys lasts until pick No. 20, or at least close enough for the Steelers to make a move.

Here are the two teams still hunting down a starting quarterback. The Seattle Seahawks need one after trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers are another team in need of a starter. There are still two prime veterans available for trade. Cleveland should be willing to part with Baker Mayfield after mortgaging the next five years on Deshaun Watson and the San Francisco 49ers are shopping Jimmy Garoppolo with Trey Lance the future of the franchise.

If for instance, the Panthers go for Pickett, who drafts Willis? If he could make it to somewhere in the 12-15 range, Pittsburgh could easily make a move to get him. But should they? Let us know in the comments if you want to see the Steelers draft a quarterback and does it feel like they are in a position to do it?
