Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani recently engaged in discussions with two representatives from the United States to assess the progress of ceasefire negotiations concerning Gaza. During the meeting, Al Thani met with President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, and President Joe Biden’s Middle East coordinator Brett McGurk. Sources revealed that the trio, along with mediators, have been actively collaborating to overcome the remaining obstacles hindering a potential ceasefire agreement.
Furthermore, the Emir engaged in a conversation with President Biden on Monday to discuss their joint efforts in mediating an end to the Israel-Hamas conflict. The Emir's administrative office emphasized the significance of diplomatic interventions in resolving the crisis.
In addition to these discussions, Al Thani also welcomed a delegation from Hamas to review the most recent developments. During this meeting, the Emir reiterated Qatar's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and advocating for the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
