Today’s juicy, viral morsel is the rumour that Australia’s thespian princess Nicole Kidman recently got in a bit of an argument with Qantas staff on a recent flight out of Sydney. Let’s investigate, shall we?
It all started when the gossip goblins at Popbitch — a newsletter known for their spicy insider gossip — claimed that observers at the Qantas business lounge in Sydney saw the Nine Perfect Strangers star arguing with staff. The onlookers said that Nicole wanted to bring fruit onto the international flight and was kicking up a stink when Qantas staff wouldn’t let her.
As most Aussies know, Australia has super strict biosecurity laws to protect our wildlife and produce from any pests and diseases. This means that fruit, vegetables and other fresh things aren’t generally allowed in and out of the country on flights.
Although it was just a low-stakes rumour, a Qantas spokesperson denied the entire incident. They reportedly told the Daily Mail that Nicole has always been “lovely” to the staff.
Fruit-inspired anger or not, I did come across an online cabin crew forum from 2008 where Nicole was referred to as a “farking b*tch”. Awful thing to say about any woman, if you ask me but I would say that is fruit for thought in this very low-stakes case.
With rumours like these ones, you always have to take it with a grain of salt (or a whole handful). However, it is worth noting that Popbitch isn’t just some random newsletter. It has a loyal band of spies readers with their eyes open for any celeb gossip. The newsletter’s biggest scoop was probably the story about a friend of Gwyneth Paltrow who accidentally shat all over her guest bedroom at her Montecito, Californian home and then legged it.
Although it seemed like a silly little rumour at first, it turned out to be true after multiple people came forward to verify the story and spill who launched a dookie all over the walls. Eventually, it was revealed to be New York socialite (and potential fellow IBS hottie) Derek Blasberg.
That’s the power of gossip, folks!!!!!!! So, in conclusion, I wouldn’t bet on the fact that Nicole Kidman yelled at someone over some fruit. But I wouldn’t bet against it either.
