Vlad must be judged
With sanctions tightening, the EU closing airspace to Russian flights and Ukrainians fighting so valiantly to defend their country, Vladimir Putin is on the rack.
Putin raised the awful spectre of nuclear confrontation because he’s losing, or at least not winning as easily as he expected.
His calamitous miscalculation in invading Ukraine is backfiring badly now, and the world is uniting against him.
He faces a battle at home too, as anti-war protests swell in Moscow and other cities.
The pressure on Putin must be intensified, never relaxed, until he has withdrawn the last of his forces from the country he attacked.

And then he must face judgement.
He must be held to account for an unforgivable assault that will cost many lives on both sides, including civilians. Many more are being forced to flee their homes in terror.
Britain has sent military equipment and is picking up speed on sanctions but much more can be done to help Ukraine.
Oligarchs close to Putin must be pursued relentlessly. And we should take in our share of Ukrainian refugees.

Plane & simple
Lifting remaining Covid travel restrictions, particularly the bureaucratic passenger locator forms, could ease flying without endangering public health.
The evidence proving they helped reduce virus infections is almost non-existent.
On the other hand, dropping a demand that the unvaccinated entering Britain take a test to prove they’re Covid-free is arguably more controversial. We deserve to see the science guiding Government decisions, because a resurgence of the virus would be terrible.
Let’s blast off
Extracting oxygen from lunar rocks could help humans live on the Moon.
And with an unhinged tyrant threatening to unleash his arsenal of nuclear weapons on this planet, the Moon sounds like the safest place to be in the near future.
