Putin bombs energy plant hours after agreeing to halt in Trump call

  • Hours after a call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, where Putin agreed to a 30-day pause on attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Russia launched an air raid on Slovyansk, leaving the city of 100,000 without power.
  • During the call, Putin refused a full 30-day ceasefire proposed by the US, but agreed to temporarily halt attacks on energy facilities. Ukraine agreed to the limited ceasefire.
  • Ukraine claims its air defence shot down 72 of 145 Russian drones launched overnight. Russia claims to have destroyed 57 Ukrainian drones.
  • A hospital in Sumy and another in Krasnopillia were hit by Russian drones, causing damage but no reported casualties.
  • The Trump administration has ended a US-funded program tracking the deportation of Ukrainian children, with lawmakers claiming the data has been deleted.
