Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his desire to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, emphasizing the need for thorough preparation to ensure a productive outcome. Putin commended the recent talks between senior Russian and U.S. officials in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where both parties agreed to mend strained diplomatic relations.

In response to Putin's remarks, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized Trump's administration for engaging in discussions with Kremlin officials, accusing Trump of being influenced by Russian disinformation. Zelenskyy is set to meet with the U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia to address the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump and Zelenskyy Exchange Criticisms

President Trump retaliated by calling Zelenskyy a 'dictator without elections,' following Zelenskyy's comments about Trump's alleged susceptibility to Russian disinformation. Trump's remarks on social media highlighted his perspective on Ukraine's handling of the conflict and the role he believes he should play in resolving the situation.

Meanwhile, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer condemned Trump's stance, labeling it as 'disgusting' for blaming Ukraine for Russia's invasion and siding with Russian President Putin.

Confirmation Hearings and Labor Department Nominee

The confirmation hearing for Trump's nominee to lead the Labor Department, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, commenced with senators scrutinizing her past support of the Protecting the Right to Organize Act. Chavez-DeRemer defended her stance, emphasizing the need to modernize U.S. labor laws to align with current workforce dynamics.

Additionally, thousands of federal government employees have faced terminations and layoffs during the initial month of Trump's administration, impacting various agencies and departments across the government.

International Relations and Diplomatic Engagements

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio opted to skip a G20 meeting in South Africa, citing disagreements over the host country's policies. Instead, Rubio concluded talks with UAE leaders, focusing on regional stability and ongoing diplomatic efforts, including mediating prisoner swaps between Russia and Ukraine.

As tensions persist between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine, diplomatic engagements and international relations remain at the forefront of global discussions, with efforts to address conflicts and foster cooperation among nations.
