Putin And Kim Strengthen Ties With New Defense Pact

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were seen sharing a light moment as they took turns driving each other around in a Russian-built limousine during Putin's first visit to Pyongyang in 24 years. The two leaders appeared to enjoy each other's company as they rode in the Aurus luxury car, showcasing the close bond between them.

During the visit, North Korea and Russia signed a new defense pact, vowing to provide immediate military assistance in case of an attack on either country. This agreement, considered the most significant in decades, harks back to their Cold War-era mutual defense pledge from 1961.

As a gesture of goodwill, Putin gifted Kim an Aurus car and received a pair of native Pungsan hunting dogs in return. The exchange of gifts symbolized the strengthening relationship between the two nations.

Putin's visit to North Korea was marked by a public display of the strong ties between the two countries, which have deepened due to their shared animosity toward the West. The strategic partnership announced during the visit is driven by Moscow's need for weapons in its conflict in Ukraine.

Both leaders expressed solidarity and support for each other's endeavors, with Kim praising Russia's efforts to protect its sovereignty and territorial stability. Putin emphasized the relationship between the two nations as being based on equality and mutual respect.

The growing alliance between Russia and North Korea has raised concerns in Seoul and Washington over potential arms transfers and the sharing of military technology. Putin's subsequent visit to Vietnam underscores his efforts to strengthen economic ties with friendly nations amid Western isolation.
