According to Pittsburgh Steelers beat writer Ray Fittipaldo, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a Top-30 visit set up with Purdue wide receiver Charlie Jones. This is the second receiver the Steelers have had in for a visit with Ole Miss. receiver Johnathan Ringo did as well.
Jones is a smallish slot receiver prospect who would fit perfectly with what the Steelers need. He runs crisp routes, is quick in and out of his breaks and is highly competitive. He’s got some underrated speed and has been very productive.
Wide receiver became a need for Pittsburgh when they chose not to re-sign Steven Sims. Sims stepped up when Pittsburgh traded Chase Claypool to the Chicago Bears. The Steelers also have Gunner Olszewski who is a free agent and the team has made no effort to re-sign him.
Jones is projected to go somewhere in the fifth-round range. Pittsburgh doesn’t have a fifth-round pick currently.
