A primary school pupil who was excluded for bringing a bread knife into school has returned to the classroom.
The child was spotted with the blade at Hazlewood Primary School, in Wideopen, North Tyneside, in February. At the time, headteacher Stephane Bommel told the Chronicle a teacher saw the knife as the class were preparing to leave for a school trip.
The pupil's family and police were contacted immediately, and the child was excluded. Now Mr Bommel has confirmed that the pupil has returned to school.

He said: "Following a thorough internal investigation, the pupil has returned to school. We take incidents like these very seriously, and we work tirelessly to ensure all of our children are safe, secure, and supported in our school.”
Northumbria Police launched an investigation after the knife was found. But the force has now confirmed no one will be charged.
A spokesman said: "We received a report that on Tuesday, February 14, a pupil at a North Tyneside school had been found in possession of a bladed article.
“Officers carried out a full investigation into the report and the pupil and their family were visited by officers and given appropriate advice.”
