'Punished' - Jordan Henderson makes Liverpool admission after Fulham draw

Jordan Henderson says Liverpool need to improve 'quickly' and has outlined the problems from their 2-2 draw against Fulham.

The Reds' trip to Craven Cottage became a difficult afternoon when they went a goal down following an effort from Aleksandar Mitrovic. Substitute Darwin Nunez put Liverpool back on level terms with his second goal in as many games since signing for the club, but the newly promoted hosts scored a penalty through Mitrovic not long after.

A goal from Mohamed Salah ensured Jurgen Klopp 's side returned to Merseyside with at least a point from their opening Premier League encounter. But Henderson says there is work to do before they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield next time out.

“Yes, I think so. Disappointing, but probably the best thing is we didn’t lose the game," the Reds captain told LFC TV post-match.

“We had a couple of chances at the end to win, but overall I think we can play a lot better than we were today. So yeah, overall, disappointed with the result and the performance.

"I felt as though we looked a little bit lethargic at times, we didn’t play the way we normally do, and you get punished in the Premier League. But there’s still a long way to go and we need to improve quickly."

Liverpool's rivals Manchester City will hope to capitalise on the dropped points when they face West Ham away on Sunday afternoon.
