Pundits rave about 'fearless' Nottingham Forest after Tottenham defeat

Pundits Micah Richards and Ashley Williams agree that Nottingham Forest lacked 'composure' and were 'naive' in their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham at the City Ground.

The Reds fought to get something from the game in front of their fans but were unable to capitalise on their chances and extend their unbeaten run to four games in all competitions. It was an encouraging display from Steve Cooper's men however, and it did not go unnoticed.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2, Williams said: "I was really, really impressed with Nottingham Forest. I think they had no fear against a top team, they took the game to them, they were on the front foot.

"The ball was fizzing about, they played good football from the first minute really and the front three I was really impressed with [Morgan] Gibbs-White, Brennan Johnson and Jesse Lingard. They also pressed well, they pressed from the front which allowed them to create chances.

"They were bright, they were good, I think is they can play like this more times than not, they'll be alright.

"They've obviously brought in a lot of bodies so it'll take time to settle but they created a lot of chances. A bit more composure in front of goal and they would have taken something away but if they can get those front three playing like they've been today then with the addition of Emmanuel Dennis, I think they're going to be an exciting team to watch.

"I think today they got it right really, they just needed that little bit of quality and composure in the box, in front of goal to just slide it away. A lot of the shots they had they just rushed and they blazed it over the bar, but if they settle down a little bit and it's not as frenetic, I think they'll score goals."

Meanwhile, Richards added: "They deserved something from the game today, I thought that they were outstanding especially when you've got young players in there, coming to the Premier League. They're fearless, but a bit naive at times if I'm being totally honest but very exciting to watch and the crowd were brilliant."
