Pundits are torn on whether Newcastle United will extend their unbeaten run this weekend. Three wins from their last four outings have the Magpies sitting sixth in the Premier League.
Eddie Howe’s men have only lost one game all season, the controversial 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in August. However, a stern test presents itself in North London on Sunday against a Tottenham Hotspur side who boast a 100 per cent home record in 2022-23.
Antonio Conte is aiming to bounce back after a setback away to Manchester United in midweek. Unlike previous trips to a big-six club, the experts do not unanimously expect Newcastle to suffer a hiding.

ChronicleLive provided a round-up of what pundits are saying ahead of the clash…
Joleon Lescott
The former Manchester City ace thinks Newcastle will give a good account of themselves - but ultimately lose - tomorrow afternoon. In his LiveScore column, he wrote: “Tottenham’s performance was once again disappointing but the result didn’t get them out of jail against Manchester United in midweek.
“I would like to see Spurs take the handbrake off from the start rather than playing it safe because Newcastle carry a real threat going forward. Eddie Howe’s side will run them close but I think home advantage may just prove pivotal.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Newcastle
Chris Sutton
BBC pundit Sutton has predicted Newcastle to pull off a shock win in the capital. The Magpies’ only victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came in August 2019, with Joelinton bagging the only goal.
“I really like what Eddie Howe is doing at Newcastle,” Sutton wrote. “They are defensively sound, but they always create chances too and they are a team full of confidence. Tottenham have been getting some good results without playing particularly well, or at least they were until they went to Old Trafford on Wednesday.
“That defeat would have been worse if not for some good saves by Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris, and they might need him to keep him in this game too.
Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Newcastle
Mark Lawrenson
Despite Newcastle’s recent form, Lawrenson expects a comfortable defeat this weekend. He told Paddy Power: “Newcastle are on a good run and they’re not conceding many goals which is good but Spurs are Spurs.
“They didn’t really turn up at Old Trafford but I think they’ll win here and that inconsistency will drive Antonio Conte absolutely mad.”
Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Newcastle
