Pundit changes his tune on Leeds United with 'war on endurance' admission

Tim Sherwood has claimed that he ‘just loves Leeds’ following their 3-3 draw with Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side came from 3-1 down to earn an important point thanks to a brace from Daniel James and Diego Llorente’s second goal of the season.

The Whites scored three goals in a single match for the third time in four Premier League matches in what was an enthralling encounter at Villa Park.

Sherwood was among the pundits last season who were often critical of Leeds’ gung-ho approach, but despite their frustrating campaign thus far, he appears to have changed his tune.

Leeds find themselves on the periphery of the battle to avoid the drop in the Premier League, sitting six points above the bottom three.

Sherwood, though, thinks that Leeds will have more than enough to retain their top-flight status for another year, and was full of praise for the way they played against an in-form Villa.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, the former Tottenham Hotspurs boss, said: “Certainly, in the first half for Aston Villa, they did get lured into it (basketball-like game). It was up and down.

“If you are going to have a war on endurance, then you can’t win the game against Leeds. They are fitter than anyone. They will keep coming at you. And they did (against Villa).

“I just love Leeds. For the neutral, we just love talking about them.

“I think they are going to do enough to stay in the Premier League. They have some huge games coming up.”
